Nourishing Our Inner Flame

A guided meditation for tending to yourself through the darker seasons.

Winter asks something different of us.

Whether the darkness arrives through shorter days, grief, burnout, uncertainty, or simply a season of slowing down, it can be easy to wonder if our inner light has dimmed.

This guided meditation is an invitation to return to the warmth that already lives within you. Inspired by a community healing circle and adapted with permission from my dear friend Kat, this practice gently guides you towards your inner flame, drawing on the qualities of the Manipura (solar plexus) chakra—our centre of vitality, courage and transformation.

If possible, find a quiet place, light a candle, get comfy, and press play.

A Practice for the Darker Seasons

This meditation was originally shared during a BIPOC healing circle I co-hosted with dear friends Kat and Aziz in Berlin.

Together, we explored what it means to nourish ourselves through winter: moving through a strengthening yoga practice accompanied by the gentle resonance of the handpan before settling into meditation.

As we gathered in circle afterwards, one truth echoed through the room: our inner flame isn't meant to burn in isolation.

Tending to ourselves becomes easier when we're held in community. Sometimes the greatest nourishment isn't found in trying harder, but in remembering that we're allowed to lean into one another.

That evening also reaffirmed something deeply important: spaces where people can soften without explanation, without performing, and without bracing are profoundly needed. It was this experience that eventually blossomed into Constellating Care, a recurring BIPOC healing circle rooted in collective care and embodied practice.

Reflection

You might like to journal with these questions afterwards:

  • What keeps my flame alive during difficult seasons?

  • What nourishes me—body, heart and spirit—when life asks me to slow down?

  • How can I share my warmth with others without depleting myself?

May we be nourished.

May we be warm.

May we carry light into the dark, and share it with care.
